pUSD
Polymarket's wrapped USDC, the actual trading currency on the platform.
pUSD
pUSD is Polymarket's wrapped USDC and the actual trading currency used on the platform. When you deposit USDC to Polymarket, the system converts it into pUSD; all orders, quotes, and CLOB operations are expressed in pUSD amounts. Polymarket sponsors gas via its Relayer, so you only need pUSD in your wallet to trade on Polygon.
In context
You encounter pUSD whenever you move funds into Polymarket or view market prices. Depositing USDC into Polymarket results in an internal conversion to pUSD; the exchange's order book, best bid/ask, midpoints, and fill amounts are denominated in pUSD. CTF operations (split, merge, redeem) and final settlement also credit or debit pUSD balances.
Key points:
- Deposits: you deposit USDC and Polymarket converts it to pUSD for trading.
- Market quotes: prices and order sizes on the CLOB are shown in pUSD.
- Settlement: redeeming winning outcome tokens yields pUSD (then withdrawable as USDC according to Polymarket's withdrawal flow).
